| Description: | The project is my master thesis in social anthropology at the University of Bergen. My main concern is social changes in irrigation societies on the West Bank. Due to different reasons less and less people continue to have agriculture as their main source of income, and exploit other possibilities. This indicates an economic transformation that has brought along social changes in the societies. First I try to explain why and how this development has taken place. Then I discuss changes in gender realted tasks, differences between generations and the change in value of land and water for the people concerned.
My thesis is part of a cooperation between UiB and Bir Zeit University called "The Lower Jordan River Basin Program."
